Ever imagine a world without anger, worry and less anxiety? I do, every day, and have come to the realization that I may not be able to change the world but I can try and change myself, to look within by becoming more mindful.
Throughout my "health" journey, I have wanted anything and everything that would make me healthier, skinnier, stronger and leaner. More so, I looked at foods to help with my anxiety and stress levels…enter a dopamine enriched diet. However, I could never lose weight in my belly, thanks to cortisol. According to www.yourhormones.com, cortisol is a steroid hormone that regulates a wide range of processes throughout the body, including metabolism and the immune response. It also has a very important role in helping the body respond less to stress.
And that’s it – help your body respond less to stress so in order to keep the cortisol levels low, by giving yourself a healthy dose of mindful meditation. I started this two years ago and "my world" has been calmer, less worrisome, and more so has enabled me to deal with daily situations with a little more ease.
It does take some time and practice and by no means will you learn how to meditate in one quick 10 minute session so you need patience.
Here is a helpful Mindful Practice:
Go to a quiet place, whether it is your bedroom, your backyard, your car parked in the driveway, or the beach. You know where to go!
Try to do this for 10 minutes daily.
Remember that it is important to make this time for yourself. It's a time for your mind to slow down, to at least help your world be a better place!
